Have you ever heard Seen & Not Seen? Talking Heads? Remain in Light? I haven’t heard it in a while. I save it for times when I am feeling upset (by that token, I should also be wearing my roommate’s shirt that said “Where All Dem White Women At?”, a hideous abomination that we save for when one of us is feeling upset).

Enough about me, y’all don’t care. S’all about the music, not some weird shirt.

First up, a song called New Colors, which is no more than a thing I love to play that doesn’t get old, that’s had a multitude of lyrics, most of which I think I’ve lost, but the key part, and how it has a title, is that I always seem to come back to singing “these are our new colors.” The thing is, I don’t know how the hell I’m going to write lyrics that can use the line “these are our new colors” and have it be compelling. The idea of someone actually finding new colors is very nice, but what does it mean, really. And of course there’s the parallel of new colors being new love or some bullshit, but as I’ve said, I’ve mined that well of songwriting dry. It’d be too easy to paint that picture. I’m tired of it.

Anyways, here’s two New Colors demos. The first has an extended ending of one of my roommates playing the guitar at the end. The second might actually be the basis of what New Colors is whenever it’s on a record. An added bonus is five minutes of wind recorded from my kitchen window, which I was originally going to have in the background of New Colors, but deemed it unwarranted.
