Archives for June, 2009
It’s been a while. That’s terrible. But my life’s been in flux, yes, flux of moving, graduating, preparation. But hey, I’ve been doing work.
I feel so bad about not having any posts in a long time, I’ll show you what I’ve been working on:
Granted, that’s in poor quality, and very vague as to what it is. So, I guess, I’ll tell you a little. It’s called Birds & Wolves, and it’s a long long work (as planned), about youth, growing up a little, dealing with death, going a little crazy. I’ll figure out a much better way to summarize it, I promise. But ill tell you, I’m almost 20 pages in, and’ve storyboarded about, what, 45? Something like that.
Anyways, that’s the main plan.
Also, completely unknown as to the future of it, and as a TOTAL SPOILER YEAH, here you go:
Life As A Man (nearly instrumental, hints, maybe)
Soooo, there. ALSO, and I’ll post about it again in news in a second, you can follow another blog of mine (with a title I certainly love to use), The Ever Circling Skeletal Family, reborn as a Tumblr. Phat.
See you soon, I hope. F’you want me to play a show at your house, I totally will (in two weeks), and I’ll play new songs. Yes I will.
from wikipedia’s entry on “Lodger”
“Much of Belew’s work on the album was composited from multiple takes played against backing tracks of which he had no prior knowledge, not even the key.
Other experiments on the album included
using old tunes played backwards,
employing identical chord sequences for different songs,
and having the musicians play unfamiliar instruments.”
aside: every bowie album that comes out new always has affixed to it “his best since Scary Monsters.” now, technically i should say “well sure, scary m’s has Teenage Wildlife on it,” but I’m more inclined to say “his best since the last album,” which is true.
i’m also a subscriber to the belief that his 2004 (right?) health problems derailed a third album in what would have constituted another Trilogy-like sequence. Doesn’t Heathen and Reality seem like there’s one more part?
of course, people rarely think “i am making a trilogy” when they make things. i wouldn’t say that a “trilogy” was ever the plan. but gee whiz, the next album woulda been pretty sweet, no?
anyways, i would die 4 another Bowie album. i don’t want a world tour, you don’t even have to put a cover on it, do whatever you want. i just think there’s gotta be ooonneee mooorree in there, no?
(i say this all with utmost respect, no chiding or disappointment. i’m too scholarly for all that)
How about that!
A care package I sent (containing my mini-comics and albums) was written up by my friend Spencer Lemon, on his blog The Silver Lining. A lot of totally great stuff is put up there all the time (I am flabbergasted by their constant updates!), it is certainly worth checking out!
I made a 22-page book for my writing class with Mark Booth, called this:
