Ladies, Gentlemen, Yak Butter Statues, I present a new little collective EP, “The Goust.”
It’s a Three-for-Two deal, by which I mean it’s three new Jams for Two Dollaz. Which I think is A) a pretty good deal and B) a way for me having financial confidence in how good these songs are.
Here’s a little player for you to Listen/Purchase (be sure to click through to the bandcamp page, though, for some reason the third song ain’t loading on the player right now):
Now, these three songs are going to eventually come out on Violet Mice albums proper, though it’s safe to assume that they’ll be heartily re-mixed before then. “Emilie, Allison, Emilia, Etc.” is going to be on (my next album) Burque Spirit, and I imagine that it’ll also be a bona-fide “Single” from that album, too. I even have plans for music videos! It’s crazy.
But these songs are great, and I’m getting tired on sitting on all this material I’m amassing. I think you all need to hear it! I think it’s great! You should too!
So, “The Goust” and “Daddy, Buy Me A Whammy Bar” are two songs that are going to be on my Next next album, which will be titled “New Age Gouster” and will be totally weird and a lot of fun. Take this as an official announcement of that project, if I haven’t done so already.
I feel like having more fun with my music (and my life, but that’s a different matter). There’s no harm in having fun. “The Goust,” as a song, is a reflection of this new spurt of Optimism in the Face of the New Decade. Or, rather, “fight the future.” I should just call this EP “Fight the Future,” but I’m not going to.
In any case, when Violet Mice starts playing shows again this year (and we will, believe you me), you’ll see a full band for the first time pretty much ever, and you can bet your bippy you’ll hear us play “The Goust.” So write down the words so you can sing along.
“Daddy, Buy Me A Whammy Bar,” I must point out at you, is in fact a Cover. The first cover recorded by Violet Mice! Which is awesome, because it’s a cover of my dear friend Jesse Carsten, who is The Best, and is playing a lot of shows in New York which you should really go see.
Anyways, I’m very excited for you all to hear these jams. 2011, take THAT!
